Melissa Priestley is a freelance writer and certified sommelier who has worked in the wine industry for over seven years. She started out working part-time in local wine shops while finishing her degree in Honours English at the University of Alberta. She obtained her Certified Sommelier designation through the Court of Master Sommeliers in the fall of 2008.

Melissa has been freelancing on wine, food, and the arts for over five years. She also published a book about Canadian wine through Lone Pine Press in September 2009, entitled the Book of Canadian Wine. She currently blogs about wine, beer and spirits on her website, CellarDoor.
